A Note From Songvest Winner Dave Williams

I just wanted to send you a note to say "Thank You" for the opportunity to meet Michael Sweet and to listen in on the mastering yesterday. It was truly an awesome experience.

I invited my mom (Linda Williams) to come with me to Boston. While my mom is not a fan of hard rock, she has always liked Stryper, and is appreciative of the positive influence they’ve had on my life. More than that, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to have this trip with my mom. Michael did not know this, but my mom has stage-4 pancreatic cancer. This cancer is terminal and usually leads to death within 4-6 months after diagnosis. 96% of pancreatic cancer patients do not live to see their 5-year anniversary. My mom is going on 8 months now. We have no idea how much longer she will be with us and we pray for a miracle every day. She was lucky enough to travel around the world in her life, but somehow never made it to Boston. She always wanted to visit Boston and you guys were the driving force behind planning this trip with her.

Michael was more than gracious with us and he helped to fulfill part of my mother’s “bucket list” and for that, I will be forever grateful. He spent time with her and made her feel like her opinion mattered. He didn't have to do that, she isn't in his "target demographic", she is not "a fan", or "a friend", but she is a person with an opinion and that was enough for Michael. He even made sure she approved of the smell of the soap he was buying at the store, "You like the smell? Are you sure? Would you use it? Do you think my wife will like it?" I just thought his interaction with her was great. She looked like the "odd man out" but Michael had no problem including her. What a great experience for the both of us. If it wasn’t for Songvest and Michael Sweet, I don’t know if I ever would have made this trip with my mom. You provided memories for us that will last a lifetime. Thank you so much and keep on Rockin'!
